Global Wellness Day at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa

“Global Wellness Day is all about encouraging healthy lifestyles and positive living. What better way to spread the word than through the global connectivity of social media?” said Hewitt. “We look forward to sharing, liking and following along on our properties’ and guests’ journeys toward living well.”

In 2012, Global Wellness Day was established in Turkey as the first day dedicated to living well. The observation was officially celebrated in 73 countries in 2015. You can find out more about them here.

Last June 11, 2016, Shangri- La properties around the world invite guests and colleagues to find their #ParadiseWithin.  In a fast paced world where all get caught up with our busy lives, it’s greatly important to be reminded on how valuable our health is and crucial it is to live well.

At 5:30 am, the day kicked off with a yoga session. I have not practiced yoga for a long time so it was nice to be back on the mat again. It was challenging to figure out the poses and find your core but it’s also a reminder that Yoga is not just about mastering and perfecting the poses. Its about discipline and inner peace. As our instructor said, a mind free from worries is Yoga.

The breakfast set-up at Ocean Pavilion was beyond beautiful. As you can see, we were pampered with healthy but sumptuous food. Don’t you just wish you get to enjoy a healthy breakfast such as these every day?

“With Shangri-La’s participation in Global Wellness Day, we hope to encourage everyone to find their #ParadiseWithin not only on June 11, but also throughout the year.” This statement couldn’t be more true. The paradise that we seek is within us so let’s strive to do our best to be healthy and happy!

“Travel is not only a discovery of the world around us, but it can also lead to an exploration within oneself to find moments of happiness, exhilaration, contentment or serenity,” said Todd Hewitt, corporate director of spa, health clubs and recreation at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
